Fagaceae - Oak Family
The Oak family (Fagaceae) in the boreal forest is characterized by its iconic deciduous trees, featuring lobed leaves and producing acorns. Only few species can endure the cold winters of the boreal forest, and those that do are limited to the very southern boundaries of it.
Quercus alba - White Oak
Northern-most distribution is boreal ecoregion 4.
Quercus robur - Common Oak
Found in Eurasian ecoregions 24,25,26.
Quercus rubra - Northern Red Oak
Northern-most distribution is boreal ecoregion 4.
